gray levels. Based on an input value, an occurrence probability determining unit outputsdot occurrence probabilities d-dfor reproducing respective gray levels. Initial thresholdst-tfrom an initial threshold generating unit are corrected based on a processed pixel inthe vicinity of a pixel to be processed, and thus correction thresholds t′-t′are derived.
