Book report—The castle

The castle is a long novel written by Franz Kafka ,an Austrian novelist. Born in the Jewish merchant family, 18-year-old into the University of Prague learning about literature and the law, began writing in 1904, main works of four collections of short stories and three novels. Unfortunately, mostly unpublished during his lifetime, three ministers have not been finished articles.

This novel tell us a story about K ,who was a new arrival from outdoorsappoint-ed to be the land surveyor by the Authorities in the castle .He had a long walk through the snow and arrived in the late evening . It was in a inn that K met all kinds of people.

They are all peasant struggling at the very bottom of the society , similar to K at some point .Unfortunately , The Council Chairman informs K. that, through a mix up in communication between the castle and the village , he was erroneously requested but, trying to accommodate K., the Council Chairman offers him a position in the service of the school teacher as a janitor. Meanwhile, K., unfamiliar with the customs , bureaucracy and processes of the village , continues to attempt to reach the official Klamm , who is not accessible. Although the castle is very close, he tried many ways to went into it . In order to go into the castle to met Klamm, he did not hesitate to seduce the mistress of the castle officials . But however hard he

tried ,he can not go into the castle's. K was very exhausted and he did not go to castle till he died. However some book said that K received an announcement before he died. Although he lacked the legal evidence to live here, all things considered, he was allowed to live and work in the castle. That is all about the content of the novel.

After reading the novel ,many things appeared in my mind. Actually ,this novel described us the opposition between us ordinary people and authorities .Some medicine can cure and some can kill, this is true of medicine, it is also true of man’s power. Guarded in front of administrative authorities, in front of the social relations of extreme bureaucracy and choking, the common desire of the ordinary people often reach no results. As far as we are concerned ,This is a

shabby ,dilapidated castle, but it is important for the labors. The castle is a symbol of abstracted idea. Not only the castle is unreal ,but also the story and the characters. What’s more, the character and the environment are not so typical, but the detailed description of the authenticity remains respected. Going into the castle is also a symbol of pursuing good things .There are many castles in our life which we can not reach. we were always regarded as a kind of castle which is so-called our own small space. It is reasonable for a person who was exposed to the outside world want to do something big to break one day.But it is not easy for an ordinary people accepted by a big city without any relation with authories. We can meet trouble, but we can not stop and give up our dream. We can not do everything, but we can do something. At least we have courage, bravery, confidence and persistence. K is neither optimistic nor negative, he is just doing one thing he felt it worth doing. Even though there was no one believed that he

could achieve his dream,. but he insisted doing it .In the book, he said that one should do his best to go further, especially when he was at the bottom of the society. From K ,we can learn a lot. Belief, a creation of human's wise always plays an important role in human's society. As a saying goes：“ If one's mind is full， it won't be filled with any bad idea.” Anyone who has strong beliefs can enjoy a colorful life. Otherwise， he will lose himself in his way of life.Beliefs are so important that it can change one's fate. Everyone has his dreams, but not all these dreams can come true. People give up their dreams for this or that reason. Those whose dreams become true have at least one thing in common, that is they always hold fast to their dreams. Hold fast to your dreams, no matter how big or small they are. The path to dream may not be smooth and wide, even some sacrifices are needed, but hold on to the end, you still find there is no greater happiness than making your dream come true.

We often hear people say, Never give up. These can be encouraging words and words of determination, A person who believes in them will keep trying to reach his goal no matter how many times he fails. In my opinion, the quality of determination to succeed is an important one to have. Therefore, I believe that we should never give up .One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not feel discouraged and we should try again. Besides, if we always give up when we fail, we will not be able to developed new skills and grow as people. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson we learned, the book we read are wasted. Finally we should never give up because we work to

reach our goals, we develop confidence, and this confidence can help us succeed in other areas of our lives. If we never challenge ourselves, we will begin to doubt our abilities.

In short ,it is important that we do not give up when working for our goals. Whether we succeed in the end or not, we will learn something, and what we learn will help us become better and better.

In life we are faced with misery and happiness as well as choises and tests.One thing is clear,our destiny was dominated by ourselves.We should learn from K to gain what we want. One has to fight against fate with courage. The strong is decisive and brave enough to put his plan into action. If there were no clouds, we should not enjoy the sun. The more miserable you feel, the more you understand the inner meaning of happiness and the happier you are about success. Tears clean the face of the weak but refresh the strong. The weak try hard to avoid pain and conflict. They would rather go without than have a hard time in bettering themselves. Such life is easy but of little meaning. They cannot experience the joy and inspiration of life. It is not the case with the strong. They are dauntless and brave pressing forward in the storm of difficulties and setbacks. I admire the strong and will be strong myself. I will get rid of the entanglement of fate, abandon hopeless desires and accept the joys and sorrows in life, so I can see my own strength and then my heart will filled with happiness.When you make efforts for what you want,and do your best to get out of the trouble,happiness will be with you.
